A roof lantern in its traditional form, is very much like a miniature conservatory roof.  Usually  incorporated into an area of flat roof, in order to introduce light into the area below.  Roof lanterns were first used in the Georgian times, at the time when the first Orangeries and Conservatories were being built.

During Victorian Edwardian eras Roof Lanterns were used for both practical and aesthetic reasons.  They were constructed over landings and stairwells, in billiard rooms, reception rooms and in kitchens.

Today Roof Lantern have come along way, with quality sealing products, double glazed units and an array of designs.  They are becoming ever more popular, and can be a great way of adding a touch of glamour and attracting extra light into a flat roof extension.  Internally they really add a touch of class to any room and allow extra daylight.
